Seth Chapin, lovingly known under the moniker "Fleur Boi," was born in New England, where he was transfixed by nature from a young age. His mother Libby (a conservationist and Mary Oliver devotee) fondly remembers how whenever he spotted the faintest glimpse of a wooded area from the backseat of their VW Vanagon, he would exclaim enthusiastically, "Hike Mommy! Hike!'

Graduating with a liberal arts degree from Colorado College, Seth continued to paint broad, lively strokes post-college, working both in environmental education and immersing himself in the restaurant world, ensuring the ice-to-water ratio was correct whenever he poured at his father's restaurant.

It wasn't until 2008, when he lived for a year at the incomparable Punta Mona Center for Regenerative Design and Botanical Studies in Costa Rica, that he fully realized his special connection to the plant world. There, immersed in the teachings of Bill Mollison, surrounded by a world-class tropical fruit collection, he knew he had found "it." While in Costa Rica, Seth received a permaculture design certificate and studied under the tutelage of brilliant horticulturists Evan Marks, Itai Hauben, and Stephen Brooks.

Shifting his sights to foundational agricultural training, Seth moved to California in 2009, and attended the UC-Santa Cruz Farm program. He has called the Golden State home ever since. After a fruitful stint at the UCSC farm, he moved north to Napa county, where he became immersed in the restaurant world, landscape design, roadside foraging, and of course, ample amounts of floral design.

Over the years in California, he has enjoyed working with Rudd Estate, Long Meadow Ranch, Robert Sinskey Vineyards, The French Laundry, Press Restaurant, The Kitchen Door, Goose and Gander, Cornell Vineyards, SingleThread Farm, K. Laz Wine Collection, Napa Valley Bee Company, and BOCA Farm, among others. Seth cares as intimately about cultivating community as he does the soil and is a founding member of the Napa Farmers Guild chapter and the North Bay Flower Collective.
